Three men are arrested by the NKVD and are sitting in the back of a truck, and they eventually get talking about how they got arrested.
"I was arrested when I denounced Karl Radek and an informant overheard," the first one says.
The second one exclaims, "How can that be? I was arrested for praising Karl Radek!"
They both turn to the third man and ask what he did.
He replies, "I'm Karl Radek."
Variants may substitute Radek for a different purged official or replace him with someone fictional.
